Dealership Hiring Again

Recognizing trends in hiring is essential for a business to move forward and keep relevant. Currently, teens are questioning the value of a college education and are looking at different career paths. If you're not recruiting these talented teens who could benefit from some guidance and your expertise, you're missing out on an untapped market.

Dealerships are full of great opportunities for a variety of youth of all skills levels and interests. From sales to service, finance to office staff, there's a multitude of ways to engage the future of our workforce.

Some may balk at the thought of hiring today's youth, but there are advantages to providing internships and mentoring.

  • You get an opportunity to show them how you would like things run.
  • You get to teach them what you expect from your employees.
  • And you don't generally have to pay a premium price.

And yes, there are disadvantages too, but some of these could turn into pros in the long run.

  • You have to spend time with them to train them and provide expectations.
  • They might have new ideas or questions about why you do the things you do.

Although sometimes frustrating, it's not necessarily a bad thing to question processes and tools to see if there are better, newer, more engaging ways to handle old processes. You might be surprised how much you can get from taking on a teen.

And don't forget the added benefit that teens are the next generation of consumers. Their enthusiasm for your dealership could very well translate into new customers and new opportunities for sales and service.
